Landlord refusing deposit in writing
Where to begin I leased a house in Missouri and Lived there for 7 months. I never saw a lease and requested a copy on multiple different occasions. I notified her of me moving out and she stated that I wouldn’t be getting my deposit back due to breaking the lease

Home Owner Insurance
The ceilings and walls of my old house have a lot of mold recently. This may be due to the unusual wet weather that makes the walls and ceilings damper than before. I have applied a lot paint over the moldy areas but could not stop them from re-appearing

Being sued for remainder of lease
I signed a lease for an apartment, the lease started on December 1 and ended on June 31 2011. I found the apartment on craigslist, the tenant showed me the apartment and it looked nice when I saw it on November 15, 2010 so shortly thereafter I met with the land lord and gave them my rent check for December. They cashed the check.

Can I legally withhold my ex-roommate’s deposit?
I received a voicemail from my landlord on the last day of our lease stating she thought it was immature of whoever lived in the basement room to paint it lime green with purple writing in acrylic paint on the walls, when we were specifically told to not paint any rooms unless it was a neutral color with her permission first. And that if it wasn't painted that night (the new tenants were to move in in 2 days) that she would hire professional painters and our deposit would be exhausted. Our landlord was also upset with the fact that that roommate's room was never vacuumed (bobbypins, coins, ponytails still on the floor even in addition to a glob of dirt) and that there was a bunch of food left in the kitchen and the kitchen was very "disgusting"

Landlord overcharging for security deposit
I recently moved out of an apartment with a 700$ security deposit. A month after we left our ex landlord sent us a letter saying he wanted almost 1600$ in damages, not counting our security deposit, including over 1000$ because the walls and ceiling needed to be "reprimed, repaired and painted". When we moved in there were nail holes in the walls (I have that in writing) and the place needed painting.
