i recently got offered a job from pepsico and im waiting for my background and drug test to come back. i know i have a ticket from jan of 09 that i never paid. it doesnt show up on my driving record which i got from the state dmv and i renewed my license jan. of this year. i police officer called my drivers license number in about a week ago but nuthing came back. my question is will it show up on my background check for pepsi? i mean i want to take care of the ticket but dont have the means to right now!

Well, I was caught shoplifting back on July, 2010. I wasn’t taken to jail or anything, it was just a misdemeanor and the cop said that I would just need to pay for it and be done.

I got the payment paper in mail, and sent the money ($250) in. I had forgotten I even got that ticket, until I got pulled over about 2 weeks ago for “ignoring a traffic light” and got arrested on the spot, for having a warrant (which I had no idea I did).

What I apparently failed to do was show up in court. It clearly said I had to on my ticket, but it was something I failed to notice. I thought paying for the ticket meant I was pleading guilty, and didn’t have to do anything else. My bound was $800, and I had to pay another $100 for the warrant, not to mention the money I have to pay for being pulled over in the first place.

I had court today, and I pleaded not guilty so I could get a public defender to discuss it with, and go from there.

What exactly are my options? Can I convince the judge I failed to read it said I had to show up in court? Was pleading not guilty in order to get a public defender the right choice? I really don’t want to have a felony in my record.

I recently got a speeding ticket in Oregon (I’m from Idaho) and on my ticket, the officer marked “Pace” AND “Laser” on my ticket. From my understanding, you can’t use a laser while in motion, can you? And also from my understanding (I’ve read a LOT) that the laser isn’t accurate when done from the opposite end of the car that the light is shining on – as in, I’m driving TOWARD the sun and he does a laser from behind, where the car is shadowed (assuming behind, because he said pace, also…). Anyways, I just need to know if its possible or legitimate for the officer to check the “pace” AND “laser” box and what that means?

My wife just had an accident, while driving with her mother-in-law. No one in either car (both SUVs) was injured. She was ticketed for failure to stop. She did not see the other car (at night, black car, car was speeding, but no ticket). The other car had the right of way, since they had no stop sign. She has only had a license for ~8 months. There were 3 (or 4) people in the other car. Strangely, immediately after the accident, 2 (or 3) of the people, including the driver in the other car ran off, leaving a women (non-driver) behind. (She was handcuffed initially by the police. The other two (or 3) returned during the accident scene investigation and the cops cuffed the driver and put him in the car and took him to jail.) My wife called the police immediately after the accident (serious damage to both cars, ours is probably totaled). This is her first ticket. Should she fight the ticket? There were no witnesses, other than the people in the other car. Please advise.

My vehicle was recently caught on camera going straight through a red light at an intersection. I have been reading many things on the internet about this whole system, and I have some questions pertaining to Florida law.

There are a number of methods of “dismissing” these tickets, that are in question right now. Here are the ones I don’t know about, and would like to learn:

1) If there is no (photo) evidence that the registrant was driving, is the ticket still valid?

2) If “Photo-Enforced Light” (or the equivalent thereof) road signs are not visible from ALL sides of the intersection, can the ticket be dismissed?

3) For future reference, is PhotoBlocker Spray ( h t t p : // phantomplate.com/index.html ) legal?

And my most important question topics:

4a) If you simply ignore the “ticket” sent in the mail, and no person comes personally to serve the “ticket” to you, are all the charges dismissed, with absolutely no penalty?

4b) If you wait past the 30 day time period, and then someone serves the ticket, is there a fine? Can they actually increase this to a uniform traffic citation (see below)? If so, what exactly is a UTC?

4c) Does this add points to your license? Does it add points it if becomes a uniform traffic citation?

My question involves a reckless driving ticket from the State of: VA (Loudoun County.)

I also have a license from virginia.

Ticket was for at fault accident. I assumed the 2 way stop to be a 4 way stop and was involved in a accident. Have clean VA and drivers record for past 8 years Never caused an accident before.No one from either party was injured in the accident.

Also police officer mentioned as “Reckless(Tolerable )” just below where he has mentioned Reckless in the ticket as he has no authority to mention the accident as Tolerable as per rules of Virginia.

Also, When I asked the police officer if he would mention to the Judge that it was tolerable, he said he has already mentioned the same in the report and he would be there at the court on the day.

My question is

1.) Do I need a lawyer? even though the police officer has mentioned hte same

2.) What are the chances that if I go and attend the hearing my self without a lawyer as cop has mentioned TOLERABLE in the report

I received a misuse of a handicapped placard ticket in California. I was the passenger of the vehicle, not the driver. The driver of the vehicle is 35 yrs old and he did not receive any ticket. Is this legal? Why did I receive the ticket and not the driver. Should I attempt to fight this? If I do fight it and I lose will the fine go up. The fine is already over $1000. Need advice!

I received a traffic ticket as a minor (17) in Arizona. It has been 14 years, and they have now tracked me to California where the DMV recently revoked my license.

I honestly believed that I had paid the tickets a decade ago, however when I recently sent a letter to the judge to that regard, he sent a letter back saying unless I provide proof that they cashed a check or money order, the matter remains open. As if people keep canceled checks for a decade.

My first question is this: Because I received the ticket as a minor, can I claim that I am not responsible for it as an adult?

If not, what other kind of recourse do I have with a matter like this? The fine is $934 and I am a full-time grad student. So, not easy.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am 20 years old and just received my first ever ticket which is also a drinking ticket. I was given a ticket by the ALE, and when they walked in I had no alcohol in my possession. But on my ticket the cop underlined that I attempted to purchase and had it in possession. 2nd on my ticket even though I told the cop my real place of birth, he still wrote down the wrong place of birth. I’m wondering if this could be considered a cop error? Also I was given a breathalyzer and I blew a .06 I am wondering what are my best options, to just pay the ticket and have it be removed after 2 years? Or go to court and review my options?

I got pulled over lastnight for speeding- I was going 40 on 25. Fortunately the cop spoke to me and said he will not give me the speeding ticket but instead substitute it for another ticket which will not add points to my license. On the ticket he wrote “failure to observe traffic device” and the statute # is 39:4-120.9
I live in NJ and after searching through the statutes, 39:4-120.9 is defined as a “public-private intersection violation”
What should I explain to the judge on my court date? And what does a “public-private intersection violation” entail?
