Some Oddities in my Credit Report
I've been trolling for some time, but now time for my first post! I'm really trying to better my financial situation and hopefully some answers can help. I have a closed Macys Account on my report. The remarks say Account Closed At Credit Grantor's Request.

Question about old collections
is it the norm for CRA's to both report the original creditor and the collection agency who took over the account even after its paid off for 3 years? is this a double hit to my score or is it seen as one account?

Bank account collections
I was wondering where bank accounts would fall under the statute of limitations. I seem to be getting multiple answers from "friends and family" but wanted to check here. A little background

Question About Older Collection Accounts & How to count age……..
I apologize if this post is not supposed to be under this forum. My husband & I have been working on our Credit for the past yr. We are currently planning on buying a house in the near future, (1-2 yr range) We paid all collection accounts last yr & have recently opened a credit card in the past 6 months and have 2 installment loans in perfect standing. My question is;If a mortgage co requires a certain amount of time w/ no recent collections how do I count the age of our collection accounts? From date opened? Date closed?

Does Date Reported Affect Credit Score?
DH has a student loan collection that we're trying to get removed (the account associated with the original loan has been removed, and the collection should therefore also be removed according to time since they should have the same DOFD). Sent a bunch of information to Equifax to try to dispute it, and instead they updated it as closed.

New Activity on a Long-Ago Closed Account
I had a charge-off account with Dell Financial Services in 2004. The account was charged off and i paid it in full in 2004 before the amount went to collections (even thought it was charge-off, I was able to pay the balance directly to Dell).

[UPDATE] New Collection and it’s not mine, what do I do first?
I am expecting my last two derogs to fall off all my reports between November and December so today I ran all my reports to start yet again, a debt elimination pland and low and behold, I noticed a new collection on both my Transunion and Experian reports, I am pissed! Says the account was opened in August-2010 and a collection agency is reporting it, the original creditor is publishers clearing house DVD, what the heck!! Should I contact the collection agency's 800 number provided on my report or wait until the investigation is complete? Please advise, I'd like to have this all straightened out by the time the derogs fall off my reports in the next 6-8 weeks.
