Is a credit card number really valid for a deposit on a service?
I own a small business which often takes credit card numbers over the phone as a deposit. We recently had a customer no show, and she contested through her credit card company when we charged her (she claims it wasn’t explained when she gave us her #). The credit card company took her side and said it is policy to allow anyone contesting to get their money back if there is no signature. How can this be? So many hotels and services take card #’s as deposits!

Civil law, forgery?
Hi there. I live in Orange County, California. Here's the basics: - Sometime back in February, I lost my Visa Check Card; I went in a few days before the end of the month, to check my status, before paying rent, and found out that almost all of my money, was gone! - Well over $3,000 was taken out, to pay something to a magazine I had never heard of! - After a few weeks, working with my credit union (which is based in Colorado), I was able to get the money back

Fraud, This Can Happen To You
In December I was issued a new credit card from my bank, upgrading me from a Secured to a Regular Card. January 30 I paid on line a utility bill for city water and January 31 it posted to my account. This same day someone called Best Buy store #6551 in Coeur D AleneĀ and purchased by telephone a 60" Sharp TV for $1,377.99 using my credit card information

Seller backing out of car sale after deposit was made….
I found a car on craigslist that was selling below book value due to an engine problem. My dad is a mechanic and we figured he could fix it up.

Sallie Mae negligently misapplying prepayments on a continual basis
Hi, I am in one of the more unique situations where I am having trouble sending in prepayment checks for my highest interest rate student loan and having the amount applied to the correct loan by Sallie Mae. These checks are accompanied by a letter explicitly stating that I wish to have the entire prepayment amount of Check ### applied to the accrued interest and outstanding principal balance of "Loan 1-04"

Help Interpreting Statutes and/or Instructions and/or Definition
In trying to glue together a reasonable facsimile of a Motion to Vacate Default Judgment, I find I periodically run into stuff (how you like "stuff" for a technical term?) :) So I am trying to put most of my questions into this thread rather than start new ones for each statute/clarification I'm requesting. Help is appreciated thank you. In the language of the below statute I need to know what is meant by "other filing".

Isn’t this misuse of the courts? Using them to solicit payments to them directly
It seems "wrong" to me. Is there a prohibition against a 3rd party (or any I guess) debt collector putting this on their Complaint/Petition right after the signature block of the attorney at the end: CONTACT PERSON: MYRTLE WHATEVER 314 xxx-xxxx ext. xxx PAY ONLINE: HTTP://www.paywhoever.com File # 123456
