What is the advantage to using an attorney to settle?
I just received a letter from my ISP accusing me of downloading a copyrighted adult movie, and stating that they have received a subpoena from the plaintiff's law firm, seeking my name and contact info. The plaintiff is law firm is Dunlapp, Grubb & Weaver, and the document was filed at a US district court in Washington DC.

Sue Opposing Counsel over Conflict

Last of settlement not paid after months.
Hi, Okay, Last March my lawyers made me settle an injury suit (if you would like to hear about that I would be glad to explain) and paid me a 2/3 of the money. They said they were going to keep the rest to see what charges Medical and Medicare were going to charge to the case. I was told that Medicare issues can take up to 9 months to come to fruition, so I wasn't really concerned when I didn't receive anything from my lawyer for a few months

If I file a complaint in the midst of a settlement agreement, can retaliation follow?
I am in the midst of paying on a settlement agreement that was negotiated with a 'lawyer' working on behalf of a credit card company. I have proof of a couple major ethical issues, such as ignoring cease and desist letters in contacting other family members about my debt. (Completely ignored 2 letters and made in excess of 20 calls to my parents after letters were received to harrass them for information.) More importantly, I have proof that they tried to scam me, changing the terms of the settlement agreement that was negotiated and even originally shown to me in writing

Car Repo Collections
I have a car repo listed on my credit as $8,172. I received notice from a collection agency for $9,449 with a settlement offer of 45% ($4,252.32). I am outside of the 30 days to dispute the amount of the debt. Should I just make payment arrangements on the settlement amount or is there a way to dispute the amount? What is the best way to handle this? I was going to accept the settlement amount with payments and ask that they remove it from my credit once it is paid. Does that sound like the best thing to do?
