Caught shoplifting at JCPenney , NY , first offense

I was arrested for shoplifting the other day. It was worth $140 and it was my first offense. I am 20 years old and I have to appear in court in a week. How should I plead and do I really need a lawyer with me if i plead guilty? The cops said after 6 months, if i stay out of trouble, my record will be wiped clean.

What rights do we have to restrict Grandparnet access to grandchildren

My husband and I are trying to find out if we have the right to keep his father from having access to our children. We are in SC & he is in KY. We have been very wary of him around our kids because of his past issues. He has had leagal issues in the past one included assult of a patient of his about 6 years ago. He pleal nolo contender and got off. I don’t even know if it’s still on his record. He made a remark sexual in nature about our 6 year old daughter/his granddaughter. We sent a letter to him explaining how upset we were and he blew it off like we are being too sensitive and he meant nothing by it. He has threatened leagal action siting Grandparents rights. What right to we have to bar him from seeing our children? Are we allowed to bring up his past even if it is not on his record? We are good parents and don’t want him and his lies to drag us down a this path. I fear he will lie and try to make use look like bad parents. We are very good parents looking out for our children and trying to protect them.

falsle backgound check

I recently applied for a job position. I was denied the job after the company performed a background check. The company inform me that my background record stated that I was a convicted felon and had been confined for 10 years. Neither of these incidents ever took place. I go to my hometown to try to see what is going on. I am given the run around for 2 days. I finally just go to see the judge personally. His secretary tells me to go to the DA, who sends me to the Sheriff’s Department, who sends me to see the Superior court clerks. I go there and she changes it. But this has been on my record since 1997. I have been denied great job opportunities all because of this false record on file and I never knew it was there. The clerks acted like it was no big deal and she even said it happened a lot.

planned on fighting traffic tickets but missed court date.

i recieved two traffic tickets about a month ago. one for reckless driving and one for improper passing. both in the same instance. I planned on fighting the tickets in court. but unfortunately i missed my court date. so i called the court house and asked what i should do. the woman said i was automatically found guilty and had two weeks to pay my fines. I paid the $500 in full with in those two weeks. my biggest worry right now is my insurance sky rocketing. is there any possible way i can still fight these tickets to at least get them off my record.? ps. i have already attended driving school from a previous violation about a year ago.

restitution/ARD Program

I am accused of receiving stolen property. I have admitted to the crime and now owe the victim $11,000. The court will allow me to be a part of the ARD program if I can pay down the amount owed by $6500. I wont be able to do that, therefor I will not be allowed into ARD, and also will have a 3rd degree felony on my record.
I still have contact with the victim and he has said they would consider recinding their request for court ordered restitution if I will agree to make regular payments directly to them. Would a court accept a request like this from him?

Which is worse on your record (this is in California) , a felony marijuana cultivation drug conviction or a felony possession of a deadly weapons conviction in terms of consequences other than sentencing?

Can’t Get a Credit Report

I’m a 20-year-old who tried getting a FICO report through this site as well as my free annual credit report through Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. However, none of the four sites will give me a report because they are unable to confirm my identity. The information I provided is correct. Could this be because I have no credit history at all?

I’ve never had a credit card or taken out a loan, but I wanted to make sure if there was anything in my record it was correct. I plan on applying for a credit card soon and am afraid I might be denied because of an error in my credit card.

How it affect FiCO score when the financial institution STOP reporting to credit bureaus?

Hi all,

I have an account with Prosper Marketplace, a peer-to-peer lending community. I have a loan through them since 2008. However, for some reason, starting August 2010, they STOP updating my credit report. I have been contacting them on a monthly basis and they kept on saying they’ll update it. Fast forward to 2011, nothing happened.

The end result is that my credit report showed that I owe MORE than the actual amount. I.e. in 08/2010, it shows I owe $1300~, but in actuality is I owe $800~. My loan will be paid off in August 2011 but my questions are:

1). As this moment, how will this affect my FICO score?

2). Beside complaining to Prosper and BBB, is there any other way for me to file a complaint to ensure Prosper update my credit report? My BIGGEST worries is that, comes August 2011 when I paid off the loan, Prosper will STILL NOT UPDATE the record and my credit report (may) forever show I still owe $1300 with Prosper.

Illegal turn, Open intox

Was just pulled over for an illegal left turn and had my car searched, which had a open half gallon in my back seat. I’m 22 years old, and haven’t had a speeding ticket since I was 18. I also had a MIP when I was 19, but took the route to have that removed from my record. Other then that my record is clean, and have a 3.2 GPA and graduate in Decemer. I was issued both an open intox and illegal turn ticket. Is it worth it to fight either of these? I was actually in my driveway when I was pulled over. I was not drinking but was coming back home from a soccer game. Thanks for all advice.

Chase Id Protection – A Big Disappointment

I recently signed up for chase id protection after reading some good reviews from the forum here. I already have scorewatch from here.

I was expecting to be able to pull the record 10 times a month based on a posting here. It has been about 3 weeks and it still says I can’t yet since it has been 30 days. The next pull is allowed 30 days from the first one. This is a big disappointment. Also, I have yet to receive a single alert. I bet that will only happen once a month.

Anyone has any insight?
