Could this qualify as "defamation"?
A dentist I had visited a while back had sent me a "balance forward" statement 3 years after the last data of service, immediately followed by a completely erroneous itemized bill and an unauthorized charge on one of my credit cards within their file for the amount stated on their bill. At the time of the treatment, all the out-of pocket expenses were verbally negotiated and paid up front. It took me months to clean this up and get the charge to be reversed on my credit card.

won lawsuit, awarded $, how to collect?
I was a co-respondent in a lawsuit that was arbitrated in our favor. The award was written such that the plaintiffs owed us for attorney fees

Standing in appellate court?
The Virginia case challenging the Healthcare law seems destined for the 4th Circuit appellate court (unless rule 11 is invoked and the case goes straight to SCOTUS), Judge Vinson having ruled said law unconstitutional.
I was told on another forum (by another layman) that the appellate court would entertain a challenge to the standing of the plaintiffs. I thought:
A. Standing in this case was pretty much a given.
B. That the lower court was the proper place to challenge standing. Is it correct to say that standing has already been granted/ascertained but the appellate court might entertain an appeal to that finding?
Thanks in advance….

evidence of abandoning parties
Less than 1 month before hearing, two of the plaintiffs, where I am the third one, decided to abandon the case. The other party says I can't keep the evidence related to them, even though it was provided by the adverse party itself

Can a case expire?
Hello, I've been following a friend's copyright infringement case through PACER, and I see that no new information has been updated as of almost a year ago. The last documents I see are the plaintiffs requesting a compensation for damages, but I see no pending statuses or any documents after that. I am just curious, does this mean that the case has been dropped?

Textbook Publishers Lawsuit: Questions and Answers
Hi, So there have been a substantially large number of cases where four large textbook publishers sue defendants for copyright infringement. As you no doubt have read in the forums, the defendants are offering for sale answers to the textbook questions, or selling imported textbooks.
