Smoke free mid lease
I live in an apartment/town home complex in Erie County NY, and i just received notice that my building will be smoke free beginning the 1st of January 2011 and i must sign an amendment to my lease for it and will be assessed fee's and fines if I do not comply .

Cockroaches can we brake our lease and move
Hi, We have been living in our apartment for 2 months now and the lady below us had a cockroach infestation so I started looking through my cabnits and found evidence that our apartment used to also because there are a couple dead ones stuck on the back wall along with alot of the roach crap that's in the corners and everything. Does this give us grounds to brake our lease and move ASAP?

Noise disturbances
Hi, I have tenants that just moved in a month ago and have two small children. The 2 year old jumps and creates banging which we can hear in our apartment which is directly below them

Our apartment rented before we were notified
We have a lease that ends May 31st and we planned on renewing this month. We went to the leasing office and they told us our apartment has already been rented! We never received any kind of notification about when we needed to let them know we were moving out or renewing. Are they allowed to do that

Carpets after flood
I live in a basement apartment and four days ago my apartment flooded. It is in our lease that the apartment could flood and the landlord is not responsible for my personal belonging and I understand that. We called our landlord and he came over the next day

Breaking a Lease
There is a resident that owns a pitt bull and allows it wander around our apartment complex without a leash. If you come across it, it will stop, look you in the eye and growl at you. After this had happened a couple of times, I called management
