i received a estimate for a new roof for 4500 dollars, i hired that contractor who replace my roof. When i got the bill he had charged me 7500 dollars, am i responsible for the difference of 3000 dollars

Materialman’s lien, contractor did not pay supplier
I had a new roof put on my house in January 2010. I made three seperate check payments to the contractor as work progressed. Two months after the work was done, I receive a lein notice on my house.
