Hi! Could you please answer if the next is considered a trademark infringement?

I would like to use the word Gryffindor as a part of my music stage name (as a surname, the first name will be something else).

Gryffindor is a registed trademark of Warner bros.
Please google “Gryffindor trademark”. Sorry I’m new here and can’t post links yet.

In case it IS an infringement, would changing one letter solve the problem?

ok, a producer recording my bands lastest song had contact information to a magazine in the uk. he inquired about getting us on the compilation cd. They aske for a track to test the sound quality and he sent it to them.

the magazine never talked to me as the producer told them they had to. we never signed any forms to have the music published on the compilation cd, it was to expensive and i didnt have the money.

the producer told them he has no say in the matter the had to contact me for the ok to publish it- i have an e-mail on that.

with no signiture on the forms or signing a royalty free form, they published us. they never spoke to me about anything, they told the producer they did talk to me and we said everything is ok.

i belive it was september last year the published it and sent a bill. i received in october a collection call from a collection company and asked them who signed the release forms. they got off the phone with me rea quick.

in november the magazine contacted me asking for payment, i asked them who signed the release form because i didnt sign anything. long stroy short they kept e-mailing me asking for money i kept asking who signed for it and what are the terms.

the last e-mail i got from them they told me they will be sending some one in person who will collect the money. i did tell them to say hi to Guido for me.

they are sending this debt information to anouther bad, and are sending me that bands debt information i guess expecting me to pay. i told them many times i have nothing to do with that band.

they are contacting the producer telling him since he inquired about it, that was a good enough ok for them to publish us on the cd and he needs to pay. i have an e-mail he sent them telling them they have to talk to me as he has no part in this band.

i have told that company that i didnt sign any paper work to ok it cause i didnt have the money and maybe you shouldnt have published it. i told them maybe i could pay in the future, they have told me in an e-mail i have till friday september 14 to come up with a plan or else. i did tell them that septembr 14th didnt fall on a friday.

the questions i have are:
1. can they sue me as a collection company stated with an intent for court letter irecived even though i never signed anything and the producer even stated he cant autherize it?

2. can i sue them for sending me anouther bands debt information and my information being sent to anouther band?

3. i have made request about royalty payment for using our music, i never signed any papers agreeing for it to be published or even royalty free. would i be able to sue over that? i told a company that if i keep getting hassled i will try for $100k in royalties.

this is getting old and has been going on for months and im getting sick of it.

i have tried to contact a laywer here in independence, i have not heard anything back and i dont know what catagory all this fits in. if you are a lawyer here, let me know with law firm information i have any type of case.

Hey I need some advice badly. Im 22 years old and have been running this, for the most part, failing computer repair business for the past few years. I just post ads where ever I can for free and sometimes it gets me some jobs. Anwyay I did a job for a customer and I took really long on it, I was given both a laptop and desktop to fix. Long story short the desktop was a mess, it came to the point where I had to reinstall Windows. This deleted all of her program files (Itunes, but I’m sure her music is still accessible if she paid for it. MS Word which shes saying I offered her an illegal copy to replace hers) and shes saying she doesnt have access to important documents on this laptop and the desktop (her files arent gone its just the program files and Im pretty sure she said she had a copy of Office somewhere still.

Anyway she said she was going to pickup the laptop from me and never came. Next thing I know Im being sued. Basically she states in the letter that I took forever, she kept not hearing from me (a lie), I kept being late with the machine (possibly true, I did take awhile because I was waiting for a laptop part that took forever to come, so I kind of put her machine off, she said she understood due to the fact shes been a college student at one point too). She states she doesnt know why I didnt bring the laptop when I dropped off the desktop (she knew why, it wasnt fixed yet), then states the computer was in worse shape then when she gave it to me (because the internet wasnt working, the drivers didnt take to the machine so there was no internet access). I said id have to take it again and she refused because of how long I took with the machine (understandable).

I did not take payment and left her house without fixing her internet connection (I couldnt unless she let me take iit). She then says I asked her for a report of why she was unhappy (this is true, I feel I offered a suggestion for each problem she had with the desktop and it was her fault she wouldnt let me fix it, regardless of how long I took with the machine). BUT when she asked me “ARE YOU SAYING YOU WONT GIVE ME MY LAPTOP ?” I SAID NO. We had an appointment for her to come get it! She never came! It did sound like I wasnt going to give her it thoug hbecause I wanted this report first, I was going to basically say,” I offered a suggestion for each of these problems your complaining about, so I’m going to need to either fix the machine for you or require payment for the desktop before I give you your laptop” but I never said it, I was going to give her the laptop if she had come to my house and I clearly told her i WAS NOT refusing to give her the laptop.

Shes stating I refused to give her the laptop unless she stated everything she was dissatisfied with. Shes not trying to sue me for 1800 dollars (the laptop is worth about $150 used on Ebay, will this help me at all? Its too old of a machine to find one with similar specs but I do plan to print out a copy of Staples laptop for $350 which is BETTER than this one, AND brand new…will this also help me?) Basically shes saying I was very slow, offered to put illegal software on her computer and then refused to give her her laptop, and is sueing me for the laptop for about 10x what it’s worth IF IT WAS FIXED (she told me not to fix it after she got mad about the desktop).

Now my first question is, does she really have a case? Im not sure if she has any voicemails from me but other than that the only proof she has we worked together is my business card.

My second question is..is it a bad idea to go on TV with this case? Peoples Court offered to pay for this 1800$ if I lose the case, but I’m afraid to go on TV because my business isnt registered and everything. My jobs are so random and infrequent I’ve never bothered to go through all of the hassle, but plan to shortly because I have plans to start taking it very seriously and plans to start trying many ideas to become an established business.

Please help me out my court date is coming soon, Id like to go on TV with this (especially if she has a good case on me) so they’ll pay the $1800 if I lose. I dont even think she has a good case though, I offered to give her the laptop. I have message history proof but that will hardly stand up if the judge knows how esily it can be edited. It was proof that I thought she had arrived here and I went down to give her the laptop but it was a friend of mine instead.
I probably wouldnt be so paranoid about going on TV with it but I also have at least one very annoyed competitor of mine, who is actually bothered enough by me to of made a website with my business name as the domain and post rude remarks and such. Im just afraid itll come back and bite me if I go on TV with this. I’m not sure it’d ever come up, or matter at all, but to avoid having to get her recovery cd’s from her I also put an illegal copy of windows on the computer. I may have used her (legal) CD key (license #) to install it (if thats even legal still) but Im not sure. I just wanted to save myself the trip from going there and having to pickup the recovery CD’s, especailly after how long I took with the machine (2-3 weeks because I was waiting for the laptop part. If I were to film a wedding, which of course includes filming the first dances (Bride and Groom, Bride with Father, etc) which means I’m capturing the music that’s being played, would this violate copyright laws on the music?

I have 2 class a misdemeanor convictions in NY, one in 1992, and one in 1997, I have nothing on my record since. my friend runs a social networking event every thursday night in a night club that he rents for the evening. I have been working for him every week for over a year, he has 3 or 4 other people working, and we all do general tasks such as greet the customers, check the music, make sure the air conditioning works, clean up empty drinks, etc. He also has 1 licensed security person on staff.

this past week, I was upstairs in one of the rooms, when a group of police came in, apparently they had some issues with complaints from the neighbors, etc. when they questioned me as to what i did there, I mentioned all my duties, and also that I try to make sure that everyone is ok, etc, he said,”so you do security”? I am not hired as a security person at all, as far as I knew I was just making some extra money helping my friend run his party.

he took my ID, as well as 2 other people, and i was given an appearance ticket for being an “unlicensed security guard”…..

I know I have to appear in court, and get council, but I am very concerned about the whole process, what will happen etc.! i know my other offenses were long ago, more servere, and completely unrelated to this, and I also know that I wasnt doing what they said I was doing, but I dont how I will be viewed when I go to court!!?? Will I be forced to plead not guilty and go through a lengthy process because of my past? is there any chance it will still be reduced to a violation?

What should I expect? do I have reason to be very worried?
