Hi,

i was arrested & the local paper had printed a story of the arrest and in the article, it mentioned my full name & address, including the apartment number and zip code.

Since the article was printed, I am getting letters from convicted felons, who are due for release withint the next 2 months. Some of these felons have served 10+ years with no parole, are HIV+, and mention having relatoins upon their release. I am extremely creeped out and scared. I do not know who these people are, what they have been incarserated for and where they live. For all i know, they could be sex offenders, rapists, murderers, etc and could live in the same town as me or better yet in the same apartment complex.

All of the felons told me they received my name and full address from the newspapers and/or their the newspapers website.

Please advise if it is in fact legal for the media to print my full name and full address and if so what can i do about these letters that are scaring me? It is because of this I have been getting these letters which are frieghtening me.

I know usually newspapers will print something to the effect of:
Jane Doe, 25, of Brockton, MA OR
Jane Doe, 25, of Washington St, Brockton, MA

But in my case, the paper printed my info as:
Jane A Doe, 25, of 125 washington st, apartment # 1A, Brockton, MA 02131

Please advise/help. I am creeped out, nervous, and scared and dont know what to do about these letters.

I was assaulted by restaurant manager at Villa Blanca on 8/18/2010 attending Honoring the Media Red Carpet Event, and here’s the story.

…”I was enjoying a cocktail with some friends on the patio at Villa
Blanca. We were relatively close to the red carpet taking photos as I
unfortunately stepped just outside the entrance to the patio. I was
immediately yelled at by the manager as the drink was literally swiped
out of my hand. He then told me I could pick it up at the bar only to
find out he had poured it out. So I approached him and said he should
not be rude and I would like my drink replaced. Then he lost his cool,
began yelling again, and insisted that I leave immediately or he would
call the police. As several people witnessed, he actually assaulted me
and forcefully grabbed me by the arm and pulled me towards the door. I
had to pull away and get the help of onlookers to get him to stop
berating me.”

I’d like to know my options and my rights for the damages they’ve caused me — emotional trauma from the public embarrassment and physical harassment. And I want a formal apology.

Hello, I recently started a business that is baasically selling multimedia players and putting in the media files into the multimedia player and charging a service fee for that.

I’m using tv shows which air in Korea, and nothing else.
But today I got a call from one of the broadcasting stations that said if I use their tv shows they may take legal actions against me.

Now, this is because there are already video rental stores in place that rent out videos with the same content, but apparently they have some kind of a contract with the broadcasting stations to do so.

So to somebody with in-depth knowledge about intellectual properties.

Is downloading recorded tv shows from a credible source and redistributing them for profit down right illegal? or is that a gray area?

I understand that for US tv shows it would be because copyright laws are more strict here.

What kind of law is there in place to prevent use of overseas media?

I ask this because when I got the call from the tv station, it wasn’t a very formal C&D. Rather it went something like, just don’t use our stuff, the video store people have called me. I wasn’t even told how to follow up to confirm the matter or anything.

If the tv station was to take legal action? would it come in the form of a personal law suit vs. me where I’d have to just stop operations? Or would this be considered a criminal case where I would have some hefty fines and/or prison?

Because if it’s the first case, I would just cease operations until a formal C&D letter comes. I’ve invested too much into the business and to quit now would mean quite a big loss to me.

It seems Ms. Grace has no reluctance in splattering everyone else’s business in public, yet is reluctant to air her own dirty laundry.
