Turns out there were 2 paid medical collections on her report from 2 years ago when broke her finger and went to the hopsital while away at college when she was 18. As a full time student and my dependent she was covered by my insurance. I was late paying the co-pays of $32.00 and $30.00 but that ended up on her credit report not mine. She never even knew about the bills because they came to my house and she was away at college. I feel absolutely horrible that my actions would affect her like this. She is very responsible and has 3 jobs while taking 18 hours in school and wanted to start building her credit.

I disputed both of them online but both were verified. I also sent letter to the credit agencies explaining the issue and asked them to move the collections to my name – that didn’t work. I have talked to the billing offices of the doctors, but they just say that there is no balance due. What else can I do? I assume that they went on her credit report because she was 18 at the time, but is there some rule about her being my dependent that would work? Or maybe HIPAA rules?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated. I really need to get this fixed for her.

Thanks!

I’m a tenant but my landlord and I didn’t make a written agreement. In the month of April I paid half of my rent on the 3 of the month and I was going to pay my other half at the end of the month. My landlord has the house paid off but when I’m late she charges me 4 different late fees all $40 each. She also refuses to pay for the broken water pump and the house has no water, but is running off the neighbors well pump. On the 29 of April I received a letter from her saying that because I refused to pay her on time every month and didn’t even pay her the month of April she is forced to sell the house and I had until May 15 to do so. Is what she’s doing legal and if she sells the house how long does she have to get me to move out?

Quick run down…

I am a contractor in california, my license expired last year. I did a job in march where i accepted a 1500$ check, 900$ to pay for materials, and $600 as the remainder to a previous job i completed for the same customer.

Do to a fallout I walked away from job. The customer still owes me money on another job refused to pay so I walked out. Nothing was written on contract other than the first job I did which was completed and accepted.

A month later I two detectives show up and say that stuff was reported missing. I have been in this trade for 15 years, 20,000 houses I have entered and never been accused of theft. I let them in to search my house and car. They asked me to “come down to the station to take a lie detector test”. I said no.

A week later a detective from another department calls meand leaves a message asking me to come in and talk to him. I told him I was advised by an attorney to not answer any questions. He then called me a week later and said I needed to turn myself in. I think he can arrest me for contracting with an expired license and excessive deposit.

When I asked what I was being charged with he said they didn’t know yet until I came in and “clarified” some things…..I told him I would be in the next day at 10am. He then said it would give him something to think about if I just answered 1 question….”what did you do with the 1500 check….use it for bills? use it to fix your car? cmon just tell me? I said I used for material and payment on a previous job (again no contract written). That was the end of the conversation, he would see me tomorrow.

My question to anyone who will help is do I go in tomorrow and let them ask me questions or do I just go in and ask to be arrested….? My assumption is they are bringing me in because they need something from me, otherwise I would have been arrested already, in which case i’m sure they can charge me for working without a license and possible excessive deposit??? can anyone help

Hello,

I placed a hidden camera inside a small black garbage bag on a cabinet door to catch a thief in a shared accommodation house. The other party, removed this bag (not knowing the camera was inside) and damaged the camera, claiming that the bag posed a fire hazard. The cabinet IS above the stove of the kitchen, however I don’t think it was a fire hazard and I would like him to pay the cost of replacing the camera. (My argument is that even if it were a fire hazard, he should have notified the landlord or removed it in a way that would not cause damage and he is liable to pay.)

In addition, his credibility about fire safety is questionable as he smokes inside the house, operates an electric heater inside his small bedroom, sets-off the smoke detector almost every time he is cooking, leaves unwanted television sets in the Fire Exit path and there are many other
hazards in the house by other people that he has never complained about, to the landlord or anyone.

I would like to know, if in your opinion I would win this case against him in a small claims court.

Thank you,

Kaveh Fallah-Tafti

Hi,
My situation is a little sticky. I have been with my husband for 20 yrs, but only married for the last 6.5 yrs. We are still living in the same house but going through the divorce process. We have a child together, she is 5yrs old. I signed a pre-marital agreement 11 days before we were to be married. We bought the house when we were together, but not married, so it is in his name even though I contributed to the down payment when I was still working. He is a very controlling individual, and didn’t allow things to be in my name even after marriage. I am a stay at home mom, I don’t have a bank account or access to any money, just 2 credit cards to use for groceries. gas and incidentals. I don’t have access or knowledge of how much is in his bank accounts, stocks, IRA, etc. Now, he is trying to force me to sign an agreement. He wants to offer one year of rent and utilities and I have to agree to live in 1 of the 3 cities he has chosen. I am scared that if I don’t find employment by the end of this term, I would lose my apartment and my child. He is becoming more aggressive by the day, and I don’t have money to leave or hire an attorney to fight him. What do you suggest?

So, I apologize if this seems tedious to long time posters.

Here is my situation.

I have a decent paying job in a career that is fairly secure in employment. For several years I was able to build a little savings and build my credit up pretty well. We weren’t living lavishly but had some creit card debt that I was able to keep in front of and never got behind. About 2 years ago, things started getting a little shaky. My wife began having terrible health and the doctor bills and medication bills began to mount a little. I was able to handle these bills, but needed to start using credit a little more for everyday items. mainly groceries and gasoline. Birthday presents for kids, etc. I exhausted the bulk of savings before I did this. I had two creit cards and wound up maxing them out while the medical bills continued to mount. Then I had a medical issue that kept me out of work for awhile and required surgery. Also, we have been having terrible luck with vehicles lately. So, I missed a couple paychecks, and at the same time, my wife lost her income, and got into some really hotwater, financially. We have managed to keep the house, utilities, food and gasoline going, but there just isn’t much left over to pay credit card debt. Therefore, payments get missed and I have to play catchup.

I’m to the point that I am considering picking an account to pay off and throwing every available dollar at it until it is paid and then move on tot he next. However, that would mean some accounts go unpaid for several months. I just can’t bring myself to do that, but at the same time, paying minimum payments on several accounts and not really able to put any meaningful dents into anything jsut seems like I am spinning my wheels. In the meantime, medical bills are outstanding and it all so overwhelming. For someone that spent alot of time building up some credit and savings over several years and basically having the whole house of cards come crashing down in a few months (was able to keep it togeter for about 18 months and then it all came crashing down) this is very frustrating and feel like I will never work out of it. Any strategy or advice from this forum would be appreciated. I’ll take anything at this point.
