Debt Optimization – Student Loan debt vs. Mortgage debt?

I recently graduated from grad school, and I have my share of student loans. I also am in the market to buy my first home. I have a decent sum of cash saved to put toward a down payment. However, I’m wondering what the smartest thing to do with my savings would be: 1) Pay down some of my variable interest rate private student loans or 2) Apply the savings to a downpayment. Essentially, it’s just a trade off between having student loan debt or having mortgage debt. I’m going to buy a house regardless, but it’s a question of whether I have less mortgage debt or less student loan debt. My instinct would be to apply the savings to the student loan debt since it’s interest rate is NOT tax deductible like the mortgage debt would be (I make too much money to deduct student loan interest). The variable APR on my private student loans is hovering around 7% right now (Before you ask, I have already consolidated my federal loans). What would be the smartest thing to do in this case

He who makes the most $ wins???

I pay for daycare, groceries, clothing, school lunches, cell phones, student loans, and medical insurance.

He pays the mortgage, car payments/insurance, all other household bills.

I do all cooking, cleaning, child raising (3), errands, work full time, attend grad school. Up at 5am, bed by 1am.

He goes to work and washes his own clothes. Occasionally he will take the trash out. Up at 5am, bed by 9pm.

He complains incessantly that I don’t contribute to the household and that he has to take care of/pay for everything.

When I go over what I pay for and what I do, it is discounted because he makes more money and I should get a “real” job that pays more. I am a teacher, I make 1/3 of what he earns, but work equally as hard.

What is his problem???

I have never applied for a personal loan before and would like to now. I am wanting to pay off my CC's and have only one payment. Right now all the different dates and interest rates are driving me nuts! One CC is a high interest at 24%, one is 19%, the others are 8.99%-9.99%

Help with BCR

Hello all,   I'm new to the forums and I'm trying to improve my credit.  I am currently in grad school, and therefore also need to apply for a grad plus student loan.  My problem is that I had an outstanding debt to ATT that went through BCR (Bureau of Collection Recovery).  I paid the debt on 2/22/10 and I need a paid in full letter from them to send to AES.  My problem is that BCR refuses to send me a letter until 3/22/10, which I'm afraid will be too late and I will need to reapply for the student loan again.  I also need the money to pay tuition sooner than later.  Is there anything at all I can do to get this letter from BCR?  I've tried to fax my bank statement to AES showing that the amount was cleared through my checking account, but apparently they need the actual letter.  Any help would be great, thanks in advance.
