What do apartment management look for?

I am looking to get an apartment later on in the year and just wanted everyone who has had some type of exp with this to answers. When apartment management run your credit what exactly are they looking at? I dont have the best credit right now but I am positive that at the end of the year it will look a little better.

Personal loan APRs

I’ve been contemplating getting a personal loan to buy a car. The more I look around the less likely I think it is I could ever be financed for something I’m actually interested in. My bank, Chase, only finances for under 7 years old and under 70,000 miles. Here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that’s a ludicrously low amount of miles (we can do 30,000 miles a year without blinking), and besides that the best deals are on older cars.

With my credit score (actually down to 747 due to an inquiry) and a completely spotless payment history what kind of APR would I be looking at? Five grand would set me up nice, and on a 24 month term I could pay it off without blinking (probably could do on a one-year too…).

Advice? Warnings?

Providian C/O – Need Help

Hey everyone,

I have an old C/O with providian that took place back in 12/03. It was originally with Providian and then eventually ended up with Chase. The C/O was for a disputed charge, but was never cleared up. To give even further information, I also have a Chase Freedom card (since 2005), that has a $9,500 limit and has never been late (so a good rep with them).

I am going to be selling my place and purchasing a new home soon and want my credit score to look as good as possible; is it worth it to try to write a goodwill letter to chase to remove this old account? I am afraid that they might either update the reporting on the account to recent, and/or potentially take action against my good account with them?

I actually did write them a letter 2 years ago about this, and they responded saying they would not report this account to the bureaus anymore, but they never removed it and still didn’t after following up.

What would you all do if you were in my shoes?

Goodwill letters put in the mail today

3rd one sent to Entergy (Utility company). Paid it off last month $248.00

3rd one sent to Members Exchange Credit Union. Paid it off last month $96.00

2nd one sent to US Dept of Education/Direct Loans for a 60 day late

These are the only negatives I have. Anyone have any luck with these companies?

Voluntary Car Repo ?

Greetings – it has been a LONG time!  Hope things are going well for everyone and people have found great help on this board!!  I am trying to help a friend who had a voluntary repo 5 years ago – he gave the car back, Chase wrote it off on his credit; and out of the blue of course now he rec’d a letter from a new collection company, but he hadn’t ever heard from the previous one listed on the letter.

I am doing the DV letter now but am wondering, is there a way to ask for PROOF of what the car actually sold for?  He is asking for the statement of accounting but I am really starting to wonder WHY he shouldn’t be able to ask, after all why is it if you give back the collateral you are still stuck w/full amount of loan including the interest?  Trying not to sound naive but it is a good question IMO.

Thanks & Hope 2010 brings all good to everyone!!!

PS – I finally own my home; and am watching my credit, trying to keep UTL down but of course hours got cut before I got balance down – takes forever to learn some lessons doesn’t it:)
