My daughter is only 10 years and has been receiving text messages that i think are harassment messages. they talk about how she makes noises when she is having sex, i must remind you again she is only 10 and has no idea what that is, and making fun of her teeth, which are just alittle messed up, but not too bad, calling her a lesbian and a retard. I know its just stupid school girl crap but the school cant and wont do anything cuz it happened at home not school. I, her mother, texted this girl back asking her to stop texting and harassing my daughter and her friend or i would call her parents and the cops, to scare her. I think it worked, for now anyways, but I really think it will happen again its been going on for awhile, i really dont think she will stop.
is this a harassment case or will the cops not do anything?
please help, my daughter is so upset and things like this is what causes stress, depression and all issues for kids this young and i will not let this happen. what can i do?

We have been living in this neighborhood for 2 1/2 yrs now and had gotten along with our neighbors just fine. We have 2 dogs a purebred husky and a husky/golden retriever mix. Well out of the blue the cops showed up at our house one day as we are leaving for vacation. He said he had received a call about our dogs being underweight and not taken care of. He asked to see them and we showed him. He took one look at them and said that they looked perfectly healthy and look like they were being fed well. Then sometime later down the road the cops showed up again. They were called about our dogs again. Once again they looked at them and said they looked good and just to verify he had the Animal Humane Service come and look at them also. They agreed with him they looked fine, We have received mulitple phone calls from people that were babysitting for us and dog watching that the neighbors had been over there yelling at them and calling people threatening to call the police on us because of our dogs. Where we live dogs are suppose to be chained or leashed up while outside so we do that and comply with the rules. Its winter out and our husky loves the colder temp and snow and refuses to come in sometimes cause he would just like to stay out there. He has a dog house to go into in case he needs to (our dogs are indoor dogs) and food and water, Well yesterday he had only been out there for 2 hrs it was in the 30′s and new fluffly snow which is the best type of weather he likes. All of a sudden we have a knock on our door and its another police officer. He asked us if we knew our dog was dead. We were extremely shocked cause he was in really good health. We found out that the same neighbors called them on us again, So with all of this I really want to know when is it considered harrassment when there has really been nothing wrong at all and the talking bad about us and coming on to our property to talk about us to dog watchers. One person watching them said they were really scared when he did this cause he came over yelling. Someone please tell me what I can do I have tried to be a good neighbor we’re not loud if our dogs bark they come right in we don’t have a trashy yard. Thank you so much for your time.

My friend took a plea to a manslaughter charge basically because he was afraid of the other options. They offered him 30 years, then 15, then 12, then 10 with 5 on paper after the sentence. Then they quit offering, so when they said 10 with no papers afterward and to drop the 3rd degree murder (which confuses me because everything I’ve seen, 3rd degree murder and manslaughter is the same thing) and said he only had 24 hrs to decide (they had never given him a limit before), he jumped on it, because he was afraid it would go back to 30 or they’d bring in the word murder again.
A loved one od’ed on his perscription meds so he got charged with the loved one’s death. When the cops questioned him right afterward while he was distraught after having discovered the body, attempting recessitation, and calling the cops, yes, he told the cops he blamed himself, because they were his pills. That being a strike against him there, I believe he was afraid of going to trial, having said that to the cops.

Now that he is further away from the trauma, he’s realizing what a stupid thing it was to take a plea. Especially when everyone, including the CO’s at the prison are telling him after reading his discovery that he doesn’t belong there at all. I’m wondering if there is anything we can do, appeal, sentence modification, or something I don’t know about? I don’t know what the laws are with pleas and if anything can be done afterward.

Please advise. I am having a hard time with all the legal terminology in the law books I’m reading, I understand some but not everything, and just hoping to hear something in laymens terms.

hello my qestion is the my wife and her girl freind were smoking k2 and someone called the cops and said they were smoking pot so the cops came and found no pot and asked what they had my wife told him she had k2 and xanxinx wich are perscribed to her the coped decied to serch her and her freaind and went through her cell phone and found she was going to sell pills to her freaind but didnt not find any pills on her freaind .. know the cop wants them to turn over someone who sells drugs or pills or he says he will press charges and put them in jail .. does this sound right or and i thinking wrong cause it sounds like the officer is just trying scare them into helping them to me ?????????????????/

26 year old female, college grad working 2 jobs and taking an additional class. One prior DUI arrest on my record from yrs ago. Was taking a cab home after having some drinks after work celebrating a Steelers win. (.18 worth according to a breathalyzer used by city cop) I was in a cab doing the responsible thing.. about a half mile not even from home and I told the cab driver that he would have to wait in my driveway because I didn’t have enough cash on me, while I ran in and got more. He called the cops and pulled over in a neighborhood, ordered me out of his cab, told the cops i “stiffed” him a few weeks back (which i NEVER did, I didnt even take a cab a few weeks prior to this happening!!!) I live in an area that is near a college and apparently a lot of the college students try to pay him with beer tokens, etc. maybe he was having a bad night. but i only owed him a FEW dollars more. I was givin a yellow citation paper, 1 for public intox, the other for “theft of services” (this looked GREAT in the local newspaper considering my small town and my parents being elem. school teachers) I went to the cab company the next day and gave the dispatcher the remaining FEW dollars he wrote me a receipt. I then called the city police and the desk duty officer somewhat laughed about it and said just take the receipt to the magistrate when i get my hearing notice and it will be dismissed. (my parents plan on seeing that this driver loses his job once this is all over with) I do NOT want this on my background check record as I am trying to get a good job in the medical field and move away. I am planning on hiring a good crim defense attny for this who my friend works for. any advice would be great! I just dont understand how I am being charged with public intox when i wasnt technically in a public place or causing any sort of scene!!!

Alright heres the scenario…i had dropped my friend off at his house and he was still passed out in my car..i could not get him out so i went in to get his wife to help out when i came back out he was gone and the cops were there…apparently he thought he was going in his house but he went in his neighbors house and broke their front door in the process..i guess he just went upstairs and went to bed. the houses are similar. they called the cops and arrested him for disorderly conduct,trespassing, and criminal damage for the door..he says he cannot remember what happend as his blood alcohol was .47 when they took it..he has got everything squared away with the neghbors and is going to pay to fix the door which they said would be $300..he has a good job and supports a family of 5 pretty much on his own. his only priors were about 7 yrs ago for disturbing the peace bcuz he worked at the bar and they gave everyone tickets and for possesion of drug paraphanelia like 17 years ago..he has had a steady job his whole life and doesnt get in trouble…he just had his first court date and had to sign a signature bond until the next date..all 3 charges were misdemeanors and hes all freaked out cuz he doesnt want to lose his job thus his family being homeless and hes unsure about getting a public defender but cannot afford a lawyer?..what should he do any suggestions on whats going to happen?..this is in wisconsin thank you

its like this my child has me between a rock and hard spot he thinks he can come and go as he wishes and dont have to obay house rules becasue he is 17 and can leave when he wants and and do what he wants and the cops wont make him come home but he says i have to let him stay because he is not 18 and only in 11 grade i need to know what i can do whith him can i kick him out

they called the cops and made a report then the cop called me and left a message and told me this ” will the owner of this phone please call this number ” what if i dont call the number ? the cops don’t know my name or anything like that cause it is a prepaid phone

I saw this some time ago and I was offended at the heavy-hand of the cops. I’m interested in feedback because most people I showed it to (damn liberals) didn’t have a problem with it.

I used this forum once before and got some good advice, now I’m back with a very bizarre situation….

Here it goes….

My old roommate abandoned our lease and moved out Oct 1st.

We are both males. The Landlord re-drafted a lease just for me and changed the locks, and was happy to let me stay. (and happy to see my ex-roommate go.. who was chronically late w/ rent and had loud parties, big drinker, etc etc.)

All was well and good until the other day he broke into my apt. and took a couple of things while I was not home. (noting of major value.) He even admitted this over the phone. I of course called the police and explained the situation. The Cops were very nice and said they would speak to him. And that if he were to come back again to call again and file charges.

Here is where the sexual harassment part comes in…

The ex-roommate suddenly sends me these text messages saying if the cops bother him he will have his female friend (I will call her Amanda.) file sexual harassment charges against me!

I asked him what in the world he was talking about, and he referred to an incident 3 months ago where Amanda and I were laughing and goofing around and I hit her in the bum with a towel.

Now it should be known that Amanda did not care at the time, I even apologized to her later that week, and she responded with a text that said “don’t be silly, no worries.” Amanda and I got along well she even gave me a free bed when she bought a new one, and I have seen her several times over the last 3 months and we are absolutely cool with each other.

I have saved all the ranting texts my ex-roommate has sent me.

Specifically one from his phone that says “If you have the cops bother me I will have Amanda file sexual harassment charges against you. You will be so fucked.”

I cant imagine Amanda (who is a nice/level headed girl) would actually go along with this. I cant imagine she would involve herself.

But what if she does?

Am I in trouble? What do I do? Should I keep these threatening text messages?

I have no record whatsoever, I have never experienced anything like this. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
