History: I’ve been getting my loans through a small local bank since high school. I’ve had somewhere around 12 of them without looking at my report. The loan officer also graduated only a year ahead of me in high school. He is still my loan officer, but he is the Vice President of the branch now as well.

I have a few bad dings of lates on 3 accounts, 1 particularly, that are from around 2005-2007 or so. Years ago. Since then I’ve been in my career and stable for 4+ years and counting. No lates at all but it shows 1 in 2008 for some reason. Just got really behind and struggled to catch up after a layoff.

Here are the baddies from worst to bad:

Account #1:

30 days late – 3 times (Feb 2008, Aug 2006, Jul 2006)

60 days late – 3 times (Nov 2006, Oct 2006, Sep 2006)

Account #2:

30 days late – 1 time (Apr 2006)

Account #3:

30 days late – 1 time (Mar 2005)

I imagine the 30s arent hurting much but i bet the 60s are dingin me. I talked to the LO/VP and he said he would be able to do whatever i needed done. So I sent him a formal GW letter. He eventually replied…

I can’t really get anything done on the goodwill request. It is not beyond my ability, but I really don’t have a good explanation for changing it. You were late and you were late a lot. However, with it being such a long time ago it should not be effecting your credit too bad. Usually your score is more based on what has happened within the last 24 months. It sounds like you have things tracking the right direction and I have a feeling you will see a big increase within the next six months.

So that sucks… should I try someone above him at corporate? I dont want to burn a bridge though, he has been great to me. Always approving me and going out of his way to help, except for this case.

Thoughts?

New here to the boards, but no stranger to trying to get my credit and life back in order.

Wanted to get opinions on writing GWs for a few accounts. Most accounts have single 30/60 days lates back in 2005. Are those worth GW’ing? I am willing to do as much as possible to raise my score, am looking to purchasing a home next year.

Also, when do lates begin to have a smaller impact on your score? 2 years? I had a bad rash of baddies in mid-2007 that are obviously there on my CR, but are they affecting me quite a bit? I’m wondering if it is worth the GW compared to the chance a bank may interpret it as a dispute instead? I’ve been reading here there are a few consumers that have been bitten by a GW when the bank instead does a dispute and the lates are carried forward.

In any case, any insight would be appreciated, the boards have such great people/information!

Regards,

Chad

I have read where several folks have used PFB as a system to get multiple credit issues resolved. Most of the posts read that PFB contacted them within a day or two.

I sent in a GW request in regards to one of my baddies through PFB and have not heard back yet, but it has only been a couple of days. I understand some things may take longer than others, but I still wanted to see how long it has taken any of you to ever get a response from them – or better yet – the creditor you were trying to contact? What’s the longest you’ve had to wait? What was your experience like with them? Any luck? :smileyhappy:

It was my first time ever using PFB, so I really do not know what to expect.

Thanks!

Total: $29,671

This is the only thing on my credit report, except for one baddy that will fall off this month for $80 and I just opened a credit card with a CL of $500 because it told me I needed some revolving credit.

I began the task of rebuilding my credit back in November. One of my baddies that came back verified from the big 3 is Portfolio Recovery. So, I sent them a DV CMRRR which they did not respond to. I sent another CMRRR – which they once again refused to respond to. In that time, they increased the balance due from $283 up to $354. All this time, there has been no communication back from them.

So, I sent a MOV to the big 3 with the two green cards and copies of the letters. Last week I recieved the three green cards from the big 3 showing that it was received and even got an e-mail from EQ informing me that they have started the procession of my dispute (interesting since I did not include my e-mail address in the letter). Regardless, they do have it listed as being under investigation on my report and the balance owed is back down to $283.

Experian does not have it listed as being under investigation and they have the balance owed at $359.

I only have access to my TU through TrueCredit, but it is listed as “account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements” (I assume this is from the first dispute since there is no way they have done it this quickly) and the balance owed is listed at $355.

So, with that background, I got home from work yesterday and there on my caller ID was the name Portfolio Recovery with their phone number. I thought that I had read somewhere (couldn’t find it again) that companies could not call during an investigation as it is still considered the act of attempting to collect on a disputed debt. Is this correct? If so, what would my next step be?

Thanks all for all the great info. Even with a little inquiry hiccup, I’ve increased all three scores by nearly 80 points since Novemeber with the great assistance and knowledge.

Well, I was one of the people that was tempted. The good news, I got an e-mail from one of the local dealers that shows I do qualify (good news in the fact that I’ve been able to raise my score high enough). The bad news, I just got a score alert that my score has dropped. When I went out to look, it’s dropped 40 points! I pulled up my report and I have 3 hard pulls from different companies resulting from that application. I assumed it would be one pull and that info was distributed, but that’s not how it happens apparently. I’m just hoping that I won’t have more. My EQ dropped down lower than it was before I started knocking off the baddies. YIKES

1. First Premier/ Pinnacle Financial Group, is reporting CHARGE OFF balance of $440.

DOLA: July 2008

2. HSBC Bank/ Arrow Financial, is reporting Charge OFF balance of $698

DOLA: July 2008

3. Cap. One/ NCO is reporting a Charge OFF balance of $895

DOLA: July 2008

However, I believe the First Premier & HSBC cards are factored into my UTIL. because adding the 2 equals my total debt is $1138. Pinnacle or NCO is showing my credit report but when I reached out to the OC’s I was told those were the CA’s who’s no handling the 2 accounts.

I currently reside in the state of SC for about 1yr and 1/2 moving from NJ and believe these accounts is still Within my SOL. I know our goal is to try and get these baddies removed from our credit reports but I would like to know what is an alternative route to improving my credit score if I have to PIF or something.

I did apply for my own AmEx tonight and was approved, but I’m just concerned about my old tradeline, and being able to keep its history without its immediate and devastating future.
